Amid widespread insecurity in the country, two police officers were killed and one injured during a visibility patrol in Bauchi on Saturday.

Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesperson, confirmed the killing of the police officers in a statement on Saturday.

“In keeping with our mandate of protecting Nigerians, a combined team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and State Intelligence Department (SID) embarked on a visibility patrol earlier today to boost the confidence of locals in Sabon Sara Village, Bauchi State. Sadly, the team came under attack, leading to the loss of two police officers and injury to one other,” Mr Hundeyin said.

The police spokesperson said efforts are underway to apprehend those behind the killings.

The Bauchi attack comes amid waves of killings and kidnappings in the country in recent times. Last week alone, terrorists abducted over 335 schoolchildren in two schools in Kebbi and Niger states.

In Eruku, Kwara State, terrorists raided a Christ Apostolic Church, killing three and abducting about 38 people.
