Two Ghanaian soldiers were critically injured as missiles hit the Ghanaian headquarters of its United Nations peacekeeping battalion in southern Lebanon on Friday.

Ghana’s armed forces, in a statement, confirmed that its headquarters at the United Nations peacekeeping mission was hit by “two missile attacks.”

It added that “two soldiers are critically injured, while one other has been traumatised. The officers’ mess facility also got hit and has been burnt down completely.”

Ghanaian authorities did not state the source of the missile attack. However, it came amid hostilities in the Middle East, following a U.S. and Israel attack on Iran that killed the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28.

In retaliation, Iran has fired several missiles targeted at U.S. bases and facilities in Gulf countries.
