The police command in Bauchi has arrested two suspects for criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and armed robbery in Gadau.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, a 28-year-old resident of Gadau reported the incident to the Gadau Divisional Police Headquarters on June 8, 2026.

“On 3rd July, 2026, at about 1200hrs, a 28-year-old male, resident of Gadau town, reported at Gadau Division that on 8th June, 2026, at about 0300hrs, five unknown hoodlums armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons broke into his residence,” the statement said.

The command’s spokesman said the complainant reported that the hoodlums forced open his bedroom door, threatened him and his wife with machetes, tied them up and carted away their valuables.

The stolen items included a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android mobile phones, 10 wrappers, ₦1 million in cash, one cap and three wristwatches, with a total estimated value of about ₦4 million.

Mr Habib said police operatives visited the scene and launched an intelligence-led investigation, which led to the arrest of two suspects, Salisu Umar, 20, and Sadiq Shehu, 20.

He added that the suspects underwent preliminary investigation at the divisional headquarters.

“During an identification parade conducted, the complainant’s wife recognised and pointed out Sadiq Shehu as one of the persons who entered her room and forced her to open the main gate for the other accomplices,” Mr Habib said.

The police commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the Divisional Police Officer and his team for the arrest and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

He assured members of the public that efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects and that all those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
