Two suspects arrested over alleged car theft in Bauchi

The suspects were arrested in an intelligence operation at Yelwa area on July 12, 2026 at 10: 30 p.m.

The Bauchi State police command has arrested two suspects and recovered two vehicles suspected to have been stolen during an intelligence-led operation.

A statement on Wednesday by the Police spokesman, Nafiu Habi, said the suspects were arrested in an intelligence operation at Yelwa area on July 12, 2026 at 10: 30 p.m.

“The operation, carried out on 12th July, 2026 at about 1030hrs, followed credible intelligence received from good members of the public by operatives attached to the Surveillance and Narcotics Section of the State CID, Bauchi Command,” he said.

He said detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Surveillance and Anti-Narcotics units were deployed to the Sabon Kaura area behind the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Yelwa Campus, in Bauchi Local Government Area.

According to the police, one of the suspects, Musa Abdulkarim, 25, of Kandahar area in Bauchi LGA, was found in possession of a dark ash Toyota Corolla with Lagos registration number MUS 784 NC.

The second suspect, Yahaya Mohammed, 35, of Dabe Village in Gamawa Local Government Area, was allegedly found with a silver Toyota Camry bearing Kaduna registration number DKA 903 SL.

Mr Habi said preliminary investigations indicated that both vehicles were reasonably suspected to be stolen, adding that investigations are ongoing.
