Two U.S. lawmakers shot in separate attacks

Two U.S. lawmakers, Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and State Representative Melissa Hortman, were shot in their respective homes on Saturday.
Police confirmed that Mr Hoffman was attacked at his home in Champlin, while Ms. Hortman was shot at her home in Brooklyn Park.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the shooter who targeted the two Democratic lawmakers.
Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, confirmed the incident in a post on Saturday.
“I’ve been briefed this morning on an ongoing situation involving targeted shootings in Champlin and Brooklyn Park,” Mr Walz said.
He added, “I’ve activated the State Emergency Operations Center. Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the full resources of the State of Minnesota behind them.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will share more information soon.”
