U-20 World Cup: Morocco beat Argentina to lift maiden title

A first-half brace by Yassir Zoubiri, on Monday, earned Morocco the victory over Argentina at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Chile to lift the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Zoubiri’s opener came from a free-kick in the 12th minute, before scoring again in the 29th minute from a counterattack by Othman Maama who delivered a cross he tapped into the net from close-range.
The maiden title victory by Morocco at the level also makes them the first Arab country to lift the title, the second African nation to do so after Ghana in 2009, and the ninth different team to win the tournament in the last nine editions.
However, the loss by the six-time record winners, who eliminated Nigeria from the tournament with a 4-0 victory in the round of 16, marks their second loss in the tournament’s final ever.
