U.S. court blocks Trump from deporting family of Colorado terror suspect

District judge Gordon Gallagher has issued a temporary order preventing immigration officials from deporting Muhamed Soliman’s wife, Hayem El Gamal and their children from Colorado and the United States.
“Defendants shall not remove Hayem El Gamal and her five minor children from the District of Colorado or the United States unless and until this Court or the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit vacates this order,” said Mr Gallagher in an order issued on Wednesday.
Asking the parties involved to appear for a hearing on June 13, the judge added, “This court finds that deportation without process could work irreparable harm and an order must issue without notice due to the urgency this situation presents.”
Mr Soliman, 45, is being held by the U.S. authorities after Molotov cocktails were thrown at a group doing a walk for Israeli hostages in Boulder on Sunday.
The suspect has been charged with a hate crime and 16 counts of attempted murder in federal and state cases.
Immigration officials also detained his wife and five children as authorities launched an investigation into the incident.
“We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this heinous attack, if they had knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it,” Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, stated on X.
Twelve people aged between 52 and 88 were injured in the incident, with no fewer than three of them still being treated in hospital, according to authorities.
Court papers revealed that the suspect planned the attack for a year and told authorities that nobody, including his family, was aware of the plot.
Mr Soliman is an Egyptian national who relocated to the U.S. three years ago and lived in Colorado Springs.
He was there illegally after his visa and work authorisation expired.
