U.S. court sentences 30-year-old to prison for threatening to kill Trump

Jauan Rashun Porter, a resident of Georgia, has been sentenced to more than three years in prison by a United States court for threatening to kill President Donald Trump and federal agents.
The Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia announced the conviction in a press release on Monday, stating, “we will continue to work closely with our federal partners to identify and prosecute criminals who make such threats.”
According to prosecutors, the crime was committed on July 26, 2025, when the 30-year-old joined a TikTok livestream about Mr Trump captioned “Alligator Alcatraz,” where he threatened to assassinate the American leader.
During the livestream, Mr Porter commented, “So there’s only one way to make America great and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes,” before adding, “I’m gonna kill Donald Trump. I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead.”
Over the course of the session, the defendant also threatened that he would “load up a rifle [and] sit inside . . . an abandoned building . . . and when he approaches the rally . . . I’m gonna put one . . . if not the face then . . . in his chest.”
He added that “I’m gonna watch him bleed out and I’m gonna watch him die. It’ll be on the news . . . his rally is coming up pretty soon and I’m going there and I’m going to put a bullet in his head.”
In addition, the Attorney’s Office noted that Mr Porter was eventually arrested in August of the same year and was immediately arraigned in federal court, where he was convicted two months later in October.
During the investigation, authorities said that two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite (an explosive) were found in the apartment of the repeat offender, who has been serving prison terms for various offences since 2018.
Delivering his judgement, U.S. District Judge William Ray II sentenced Mr Porter to three years and five months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Reacting to the sentencing, Robert Donovan, the acting special agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service Atlanta Field Office, said, “When free speech devolves into threats against the President of the United States or any of our protectees, you can expect the United States Secret Service to bring those criminals to justice.”
The federal agent added, “We appreciate the work of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, as well as our partners at the local law enforcement partners for their assistance in this case.”
