U.S. Dept of War working aggressively with Nigeria to end alleged Christian genocide, says Peter Hegseth
U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, on Friday, said America’s Department of War is working aggressively with Nigeria to end the alleged persecution of Christians.
Mr Hegseth disclosed this in a post on X on Friday, a day after he met with Nigeria’s National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu.
“Under @POTUS leadership, DOW is working aggressively with Nigeria to end the persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists,” Mr Hegseth said.
He said, “Yesterday, I met with Nigeria’s National Security Advisor and his team to discuss the horrific violence against Christians in their country.”
A Nigerian delegation led by Mr Ribadu is in America to engage with U.S. authorities following President Donald Trump’s threat to deploy soldiers to kill off rampaging terrorists killing Christians in Nigeria.
The delegation met with U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore, a leading figure among lawmakers championing the campaign against alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Mr Moore, who has been appointed by Mr Trump to investigate the killings of Christians in Nigeria, on Thursday, stated that he insisted Nigerian authorities must tackle Christian genocide.
