U.S. dollars to bear Trump’s signature to mark America’s 250th anniversary

The United States Department of the Treasury has announced that the signature of President Donald Trump is set to appear on the U.S. banknotes to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
“There is no more powerful way to recognise the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” the secretary of the Treasury Department Scott Bessent told Reuters in a statement on Thursday.
According to Reuters, the first $100 bills bearing the signature of Mr Trump and that of Mr Bessent will be printed in June as part of the elaborate plan to celebrate the 250th year of the United States ‘Declaration of Independence’ from Great Britain.
In the months that followed, other bills bearing Mr Trump’s signature would be printed. Bills being produced by the Treasury Department at the moment still bear the signatures of former President Joe Biden’s Treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, and former Treasurer Lynn Malerba.
The unprecedented move by the Treasury Department will mark the first time a sitting president has signed American banknotes, as Ms Malerba is set to become the last of an unbroken line of treasurers whose signatures have appeared on U.S. federal currency since 1861.
The overall designs of the new bills remain the same, except for Mr Trump’s signature replacing the treasurer’s, officials said
