U.S. federal agents raid Democratic Rep Ilhan Omar’s home
Federal security agents on Monday raided the home of Ilhan Omar, a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, amid an investigation.
Ms Omar’s Washington, D.C., home was raided by federal agents, “early Monday morning as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” Fox News reported on Monday.
It added, “Homeland Security Investigations agents arrived around 6 a.m., with both DHS and the Justice Department involved in the operation.”
The raid on Ms Omar’s residence comes just three weeks before midterm election day.
Details of the investigation into Ms Omar are yet to be made public. However, President Donald Trump and other Republican politicians have repeatedly accused her of obtaining citizenship fraudulently.
Ms Omar has repeatedly denied the allegations, criticising Mr Trump for attacking her for being a vocal opposition.
