U.S. to host delegation from Nigeria, Kenya, others to strengthen maritime security
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is set to welcome a 15-person delegation of port operators from Angola, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal to build solid partnerships and improve maritime security in Sub-Saharan Africa, a statement said Wednesday.
During the visit scheduled from September 12 to 19, the delegation will travel to New York, Washington DC, and Wilmington, NC, where they will visit other U.S. companies and see real-time demonstrations of advanced technology that “modernise port infrastructure, digitalize supply chains, and enhance maritime logistics and security”.
USTDA on Wednesday will host a business briefing in Washington on Wednesday where representatives of U.S. companies will engage the delegates one-on-one.
“Sub-Saharan Africa is home to global supply chain hubs that handle substantial cargo volumes, and the sector is primed for modernization to improve cargo handling efficiencies and port security,” the USTDA said. “The U.S. private sector can provide trusted solutions for port automation and digitalisation, including cybersecurity solutions, that will help secure global supply chains.”
