U.S. veteran journalist, activist Gloria Steinem dies at 92

Gloria Steinem, a U.S. journalist who championed women’s rights and advocacy, died on Wednesday at 92.
“Yesterday, Gloria Steinem passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her,” Gloria’s Foundation wrote in a statement on Instagram.
Ms Steinem co-founded the Women’s Action Alliance, an anti-sexism group. She died in her home in New York on Wednesday.
“Gloria’s greatest gift was her ability to listen to others, to make others feel seen and heard,” the posts said. “Her words, actions, and example gave people permission to be their truest selves. Gloria lived true to her independent spirit, always with curiosity and a great sense of humour.”
The journalist gained prominence in 2022 over an investigative article highlighting sexism that cocktail waitresses endured at New York’s Playboy Club.
She also co-founded Ms magazine, a first-of-its-kind publication that amplified women’s work and reproductive rights, breaking from other women’s magazines that focused on beauty and home management.
