Some political stakeholders in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta have appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to reinstate the suspended Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze.

The position of the stakeholders is contained in a statement by the National Coordinator, Delta State Core Comrades for ‘MORE Agenda’ and ‘Renewed Hope 2027,’ Emuesiri Kotor, on Thursday.

Mr Izeze was suspended indefinitely by the state government on August 10.

His suspension followed allegations linking him to the assault of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Simon Mudi, also known as Temple.

The government said the suspension was to enable security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into the allegations, stressing its commitment to public safety and law and order.

Mr Kotor appealed to the governor to reconsider the suspension and allow Mr Izeze to continue contributing to the development of the state.

He acknowledged the high standards of discipline expected from public officials under Mr Oborevwori’s administration but appealed to him to consider Mr Izeze’s years of service.

“We are aware of the high standards of discipline that your administration demands from your public officials.

“We acknowledge the circumstances that led to this administrative action and humbly plead that you view this situation through the lens of a father, considering Reuben Izeze’s capacity to mobilise the grassroots and his years of faithful service to the state,” he said.

Mr Kotor described Mr Oborevwori as a listening father and leader who valued the concerns of the people, urging him to look favourably upon the Okwagbe community.

He said Mr Izeze’s reinstatement would enable him to continue serving as a champion of the governor’s development vision, particularly through grassroots mobilisation in Ughelli South.

Mr Kotor also recalled the contributions of the late Kotor Sunday to infrastructure and community development within Ughievwen Kingdom and Okwagbe Waterside.

“An Urhobo adage says, ‘Two things don’t happen to a person at once.’ The good people of Ughelli South have not recovered from the loss of Kotor Sunday.

“He was a man who brought high-level organisation, distinct eloquence and dignity to state-level events,” he said.

Mr Kotor said the late Mr Sunday, who died in March 2026, advocated infrastructure and community development, fostered communal harmony and mentored younger generations.

He also described Mr Izeze as a public servant known for his contributions to infrastructure development and youth advocacy in the state.

Mr Kotor commended Mr Oborevwori for his administration’s utilisation of scarce resources, inclusive development strategy and investments in infrastructure and human capital.

He cited road and bridge projects, debt-free project execution, accountability, primary healthcare delivery, job creation and empowerment programmes among the administration’s achievements.

Mr Kotor particularly commended the governor for infrastructure projects in Okwagbe, especially the construction and rehabilitation of inner roads in the community.

He said the projects demonstrated the administration’s commitment to grassroots development and equitable distribution of infrastructure.

Mr Kotor also praised Mr Oborevwori’s Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, Enhanced Peace and Security (MORE) agenda, saying the state had recorded remarkable milestones.

He expressed the group’s  continued support for the administration and pledged that they would mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“We remain resolutely committed to delivering the Ughelli South vote to APC in 2027,” he said.
