UK advises citizens against travelling to Kwara, Benue

The travel advisory by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) was updated on July 1.

The United Kingdom government has issued a travel advisory, warning its citizens against travelling to some states in Nigeria.

The travel advisory by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated on July 1 states,

“FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to Kwara State and Benue State.”

The updated travel advisory added, “FCDO continues to advise against all travel and all but essential travel to other parts of Nigeria.”

For North-East Nigeria, the 

FCDO advises citizens against travelling to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Gombe states. It also advises against all but essential travel to Bauchi State.

The FCDO advised citizens against travelling to two states in the North-West Nigeria, Katsina and Zamfara states. It also advises against all but essential travel to Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Sokoto states.

In North-Central Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory,  including Abuja, the 

FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Taraba, Kwara and Benue states.

In the South-East, South-South regions, the FCDO advises “against all travel to the riverine areas (the river and swamp locations accessible by boat, but not by road) of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.”
