A jury in the District Court of Western Australia in Perth has found UK rap artiste Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, known as Yung Filly, not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent over a 2024 incident in which a fan accused him of rape after a nightclub performance.

The jury also did not find Yung Philly guilty of choking the plaintiff, who claimed the rapper had bruised and bitten her, submitting pictures which showed bite marks and bruises on her face and neck to the court.

Yung Philly, 30, argued that they both had consensual sex and admitted he bit her during the sexual encounter, describing the marks as “love bites”.

He said it was the girl who first approached him in the VIP section of the club after his performance and that his security team took her phone as “standard practice” to protect their privacy. He rebuffed claims that the woman asked him to stop.

The UK rapper said it was the plaintiff who leaned over from the barrier of the club’s general section to pop her head in the VIP and make his acquaintance.

He said he truly “fancied” her and that he later wrapped his hands around her waist without moving them higher or lower. He denied touching her breasts and pants.

Prosecutor Danielle Clarke called Yung Philly an “entitled” rapper with a “moderate degree of fame” who had violated the plaintiff “in the most intrusive way possible”.

But the rapper’s lawyer countered that the evidence was laden with “inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies”.

The jury found him guilty and convicted him of assault, which caused bodily harm. The court said he would remain on bail until August 21, when it will set a sentencing date. 

Yung Philly burst into tears in the courtroom after hearing that he was not found guilty of rape.
