Unemployed man arraigned for scamming lottery house in Abuja

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant dishonestly played multiple games worth N109,000 and refused to pay.

An unemployed man who lives in Dutse Makaranta area, a suburb in Abuja has been docked for scamming.

Stanley Iyamma, 27, was on Thursday arraigned in a Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court Shagari quarters, Abuja for alleged cheating a lottery house of N109,000

The police charged Iyamma of Dutse Makaranta, Abuja with cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant,  Okoh Peter of Dutse Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa police station on June 12.

Mr Ogada said that on the same date the defendant went to the complainant’s games house to play a game and promised to pay after playing one game.

He told the court that the defendant dishonestly played multiple games worth N109,000 and refused to pay.

Mr Ogada said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor however, prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case.

The Area court judge, Sulyman Ola, admitted Mr Iyamma to bail in the sum of N 100,000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction and must have valid means of identification.

Mr Ola adjourned the case until August 30
