Unemployed man bags three-month jail term for stealing plank

A Mapo Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old unemployed man, Pelumi Olusola, to three months in prison for stealing a plank from a site.
The Magistrate, O.O. Latunji held that she convicted and sentenced Olusola based on his guilty plea and the evidence tendered by the prosecution against him.
Mrs Latunji advised the convict to stay away from committing further crime in future as he might not be lucky with soft punishment.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Oluseye Akinola had told the court that the convict committed the crime on May 29, at about 5:30 a.m., at a site in Lagelu Estate, Felele, Ibadan.
According to Akinola, a guard caught the convict removing the plank at an abandoned site.
He said that the offence contravened the provision of section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State 2000.
