UNIBEN appoints Arishe as new orator

The statement described Mr Arishe as widely respected for his work on judicial independence and access to justice across Africa.

The University of Benin, Edo State, has appointed Gabriel Arishe as its new orator.

His appointment was announced on Thursday in Benin City via a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Benedicta Ehanire.

Ms Ehanire said the appointment approved by the Vice Chancellor, Edoba Omoregie, SAN, took effect from May 2, 2025, and would last for one year.

According to her, Mr Arishe is a renowned constitutional law expert and former Head of the Department of Public Law at the university.

Mr Arishe was said to be widely respected for his work on judicial independence and access to justice across Africa.

The new orator is currently serving as director of the SERVICOM directorate in the vice chancellor’s office.
