UNN Muslim chairman seeks world leaders’ intervention in Middle East conflicts
The Chairman of UNN Muslims Community, Dr Mansur Saddiq, has called on world leaders to urgently intervene in the ongoing war between the U.S./Israel and Iran to broker peace.
Mr Saddiq made the call on Friday, while speaking on this year’s eid-el-fitr celebration during an interview in Nsukka.
He challenged world leaders to act fast to bring the U.S., Israel and Iran to the negotiation table for the ultimate resolution of their differences.
“This will help to prevent further destruction of lives and property,” he said.
Mr Saddiq, who is the Acting Director of the Medical Services, UNN, thanked Allah “who made it possible for the Ramadan fast to start in peace and end in peace”.
He urged the Muslim faithful to continue to pray for peace and unity in the country.
In a sermon, the Chief Imam of the UNN Central Mosque, Dr Abdulmumuni Isah, urged Nigerians and the global community “to embrace peace and good neighbourliness, in order to move the world forward.
He said, “Everybody, both the leaders and ordinary citizens across the world, should embrace peace and good neighbourliness in order to end the present global crises, tension and hostilities.
“As leaders or ordinary citizens, we should bear in mind that one day we will stand before the Almighty God to give account of our stewardship.”
Mr Isah, also a senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management in the university, admonished the Muslims to allow what they learnt during the Ramadan period to guide their daily activities and relationship with their fellow humans, irrespective of their religion, tribe or political affiliations.
He stated, “You must remain righteous and good in order to continue to attract Allah’s blessings, favour and protection. We should not see the Ramadan as the only time to be righteous and good. We must be righteous and good to everybody at all times because God is watching us at all times.”
