Veteran journalist Ayo Akinyemi’s son-in-law abducted in Ikenne: Police
The Ogun State police command says Oreoluwa Osunuga, son‑in‑law of the former Managing Director of the defunct Monitor newspaper, Ayo Akinyemi, was abducted in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Mr Osunuga, a poultry farm owner, was reportedly abducted on Sunday, while driving out to buy fuel and deliver poultry products, leaving behind his 2017 Highlander SUV.
Spokesperson for the command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, told the Peoples Gazette on Monday that the police have recovered the vehicle and are making efforts to apprehend the kidnappers.
“We’re investigating the kidnap of one Oreoluwa Osunuga. We’ve recovered the vehicle, and we’re on the trail of the suspect to rescue the victim. That’s all I can say for now. I can’t release any other information because the investigation is still ongoing,” Mr Babaseyi said.
The command could not confirm an alleged ₦500 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers from the victim’s family, using his phone.
