Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has emerged as the 2024 FIFA Best Men’s Player award winner after beating teammates Kylian Mbappe, Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, Manchester City’s Rodri and others to honour.

Between 21 August 2023 and 10 August 2024, the year under review, the Brazilian made incredible contributions as Madrid completed a La Liga, Champions League and Supercopa de Espana treble during the 2023/24 season.

The victory will be a huge relief for Vinicius after losing the Ballon d’Or to Rodri, an outcome which Real Madrid, the player and his camp, and his national team teammates, including Neymar and Richarlison, publicly contested.

Meanwhile, Spain and Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati won The Best FIFA Women’s Player for the second consecutive time. She beat Khadija Shaw, reigning CAF Women’s Player of the Year Barbra Banda, Lucy Bronze and many other top players to the award.

The 26-year-old won the Primera Division league title, UEFA Women’s Champions League, Copa de la Reina and Supercopa de Espana during the year under review for the FC Barcelona Femení.

Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho won the FIFA Puskas award. Brazilian icon Marta won the inaugural FIFA Marta award for the best goal scored by a female footballer.

Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez clinched the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper for the Year. Chicago Red Stars’ Alyssa Naeher won the Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper.

Real Madrid manager Carlos Ancelloti was named the Best Men’s Coach of the Year as United States Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes claimed the Best Women’s Coach of the Year prize for the second time.
