Vinícius Junior apologises to teammates over outburst following substitution

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Junior has apologised to teammates and supporters over his angry outburst after he was substituted during the club’s 2-1 El Clasico win over Barcelona on Sunday.
“Today I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico,” Vicinius said in a statement on Wednesday. “Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.”
Vinícius’ statement came following his on-pitch outburst with head coach Xabi Alonso after he was replaced by national team compatriot Rodrygo Góes in the high profile game, with the player overheard saying “it was always me and I am going to leave this team” before angrily storming down the tunnel.
The Brazilian star attributed the reaction to his passion for Real Madrid to always win, noting that his emotions sometimes get the best of him.
He added, “Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents.
“I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.”
