VP Kamala Harris picks Gov Tim Walz as running mate ahead of November poll

Vice-President Kamala Harris has chosen Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate, said people briefed on the decision.
The New York Times reported that the pick elevated a former football coach whose rural roots, liberal policies and buzzy takedowns of former President Donald Trump have recently put him on the map.
Ms Harris announced her running mate in a tweet on Tuesday, describing him as a coach, a teacher and veteran.
“I am proud to announce that I’ve asked @Tim_Walz to be my running mate,” Ms Harris said. “As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his. It’s great to have him on the team.”
Mr Walz, 60, bagged a social science degree from Chadron State College in Nebraska, where he grew up. He also served 24 years in the American Army National Guard and was a command sergeant major.
The duo of Ms Harris and Walz will contest the November 5 presidential election against Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump and his running mate David James Vance.
