Boris Johnson, former UK prime minister, on Thursday lauded Nigeria as a strong ally in a solid bilateral relationship with the United Kingdom.

He said the UK exports pharmaceuticals and huge quantities of whiskey to Nigeria in exchange for crude oil, gas, and brilliant human resources.

“I’m very proud of what we export to Nigeria. We send you pharmaceuticals, bankers, services of all kinds and huge quantities of whiskey,” Mr Johnson said at the Imo Economic Summit on Thursday, adding that the UK is grateful to Nigeria for its support.

“And in return, you send us oil, gas, Nollywood movies, brilliant doctors, nurses, tech geniuses. We are very, very grateful,” Mr Johnson said.

The Imo Economic Summit, a two-day event, started on December 4 and will end on Friday.

The summit, held at Concorde Boulevard, opposite Concorde Hotel, Owerri, Imo State, attracted dignitaries across sectors to the state.
