We’ll be transparent in implementation of N273.9 billion 2024 budget: Osun Govt.

On Wednesday, Osun commissioner for budget and economic planning, Prof. Morufu Adeleke, said that the state government would be transparent in the implementation of the N273.9 billion 2024 budget.
Mr Adeleke, who stated this at a news conference in Osogbo, said the state government had made it a priority to be transparent in its dealings.
According to him, the government intends to carry the people of the state along in the management of the state’s resources.
“The essence of this news briefing is to do a brief analysis and breakdown of the 2024 budget, which was just signed into law by the governor.
“It is to let the people know what the government has in stock for them, what is in the budget and how the government will be implementing it,” he said.
The commissioner stated that infrastructure would be taking up the largest chunk of the budget, with N55.03 billion representing 50.10 per cent.
He said the budget was not based on net financing, that is, loans, but that it would, in turn, be taking care of the servicing of the debts incurred by the previous administrations and the payment of pensions and gratuities.
According to him, the budget for the governor’s office comprises the office of the governor and that of his deputy.
Others are the office of the chief of staff to the governor, the bureau of general services, the bureau of government house and protocol, the bureau of parastatal and the bureau of social services.
He said that the breakdown and simplified version of the budget would soon be made available to citizens, both in Yoruba and English Languages.
