The U.S. government has offered support to protesters amid ongoing protests in Iran.

U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in a post on social media, announced U.S.’ support for the protesters.

“The United States supports the brave people of Iran,” Mr Rubio posted on Saturday as protests rock Iran.

The U.S. Secretary of State’s post which has garnered over 15 millions views and more than 15,000 repost was amplified by U.S. Embassy in Iran in Arabic.

This mesage followed American President Donald Trump’s warning Iran government against deploying lethal force against protesters, vowing to hit Iran hard if security forces kill protesters like they did in the past.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, in a televised speech in Tehran on Friday, branded the protests sparked by economic crisis in the country as attempt to burn down the country to please Mr Trump.

“There are people whose job is only about destruction,” Mr Khamenei said, adding that his government “will not back down” amid the protests that have started since December 28, 2026.

Mr Khamenei, 86, who has been Iran’s leader for over three decades, said, “Last night in Tehran and in some other places, a group of vandals came and damaged buildings belonging to their own country just to please the president of the United States.”

The nationwide protests had witnessed deaths of over 65 people and over 2000 arrests amid internet blackout and brutal clampdown by security forces.
