West Ham hold Chelsea to 1-1 draw as Blues extend poor away form

Chelsea has now failed to win any of its last eight away games across all competitions after hosts West Ham United held them to a 1-1 draw in a Premier League lunchtime kickoff at the London Stadium.
The match saw Joao Felix return to action for the first time since the red card on EPL debut against Fulham last month.
The Portuguese showed his worth in the 16th minute when he latched Enzo Fernandez’s curling cross into the net to put Chelsea ahead.
In the 28th minute, old nemesis came back to haunt Chelsea when one of their former players, Emerson Palmieri, capitalised on the visitors’ defenders sloppiness and fired Jarrod Bowen flicked ball into the net to equalise for West Ham.
Chelsea also found the net in the first half through Kai Havert and Joao Felix again but both goals were ruled out for offsides.
Both players were just inch offsides in those two moments which could have changed the game.
It was a bit dramatic in the final minutes of the encounter. In the 84th minute, Tomáš Souček thought for some minutes that he had grabbed a late-winner for West Ham but the goal was ruled out for an offside. Declan Rice was in an offside position when he headed Emerson’s freekick to Souček.
Then four minutes later, Souček deflected Conor Gallagher’s shot from yards away with his hand to allow Lukasz Fabiański grab a hold on the ball.
It prompted protest from Chelsea players and the club’s officials on the dugout but fell on deaf ears of the referee and VAR officials.
