Wheelbarrow pusher killed in Rivers road crash

A wheelbarrow pusher died in a fatal accident involving a Mitsubishi commercial bus in Rivers State, the police said.
The accident occurred along the Ikwerre Road-Ekene Street Junction at Mile 3, Port Harcourt, in the early hours of Friday.
The spokesperson for the state police, ASP Blessing Agabe, said the driver had been arrested.
Ms Agabe, who did not provide further details surrounding the accident, said investigations into the incident had commenced.
However, a witness, who identified herself as Precious, said the accident occurred a few minutes before 6:00 a.m. when the vehicle reportedly rammed into the victim as he stood by the roadside.
She said the victim was immediately rushed to a nearby clinic by traffic officials and operatives of the Nkpolu Police Division, where he was confirmed dead.
Ms Precious further disclosed that the driver of the commercial bus was arrested at the scene, adding that the vehicle involved in the accident was later impounded and taken to the police station.
