Wike: Dingyadi says PDP ‘comedians’ playing ‘TV politics’ against Ayu

Governor Nyesom Wike and other PDP chieftains excoriating embattled PDP chair Iyorchia Ayu have been described as “comedians” and TV politicians.
Governor Nyesom Wike has vehemently opposed the chairmanship of Mr Ayu, calling for his removal and accusing him of taking a bribe. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Mr Wike’s sidekick in PDP, is also bent on having the incumbent PDP chairman removed.
But Mr Ayu’s media aide Yusuf Dingyadi said, “Nigerians should always stay away from comedians, who play television politics in an attempt to showcase their strength and decapitate party unity for selfishness.”
According to him, Mr Ayu is a trusted ally of politicians, academics, focused individuals, the business community and other categories of people from all parts of the country.
He explained that Mr Ayu’s position as the party leader would surely strengthen the party’s chances of winning the 2023 general elections.
“Ayu’s trusted credibility has been the bedrock of his widespread political support in the country,” Mr Dingyadi claimed.
The aide cautioned Nigerians against being misguided by elements capitalising on ethnic, religious, and political divisions.
According to him, peace and stability of Nigeria as a nation should be sacrosanct, and he condemned the activities of groups sponsoring political agitations against Mr Ayu’s chairmanship.
“The PDP board of trustees, national executive committee, and stakeholders have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Ayu to continue as a chairman,” added Mr Dingyadi. “There’s no reason behind certain lamentation and mischief.”
He stressed that removing Mr Ayu would create a constitutional crisis for the party, which would snowball into greater problems than what the party is currently facing.
