WNBA Tour: Coach Wakana invites 21 players to camp ahead of D’Tigress’ U.S. friendly series

D’Tigress head coach, Rena Wakana, has invited 21 players for training camp ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly tour against three Women’s National Basketball Association franchises in the United States later this month.
There are several new faces, many of whom are playing in the American collegiate system, including Oluchi Okananwa, Stephanie Okechukwu, Danielle Osho, Uche Izoje and Maryam Dauda.
Many team regulars have also been called up for the tour such as Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Nicole Enabosi, Victoria Macaulay and Blessing Ejiofor.
However, some key figures are missing in the list, which includes Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, and captain Amy Okonkwo
The reigning African champions will face Los Angeles Sparks in their first game of the series on April 25, before facing the Minnesota Lynx two days later. The D’Tigress will play Indiana Fever in the last game of the tour on May 2.
The tour would provide the coach an avenue to test a new generation of players as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup starting later in September in Germany.
