Wolves beat Aston Villa 2-0 to secure second win

Wolverhampton Wanderers beat rivals, Aston Villa, 2-0 to record second win of their campaign at the Molineux Stadium.
The English Premier League Friday fixture saw Wolves face Aston Villa, as the hosts won their last four home games, making them unbeaten since 2020.
The crucial game for points saw inconsistent Villa clash with bottom table side Wolves.
The game kicked off, producing little clear-cut chance for either side. Despite the visitors dominating the game, they fell short after halftime, but the hosts remained patient as they moved forward to search for opportunities after the interval.
Wolves opened the scoring wth a goal from Joao Gomes, aided by a straight pass by Adam Armstrong, allowing the brazilian net in the goal.
After the deadlock was broken by the hosts, the intense matchup saw Villa try to get one back and level the game, but Wolves’ defence was too tough to pass through, with Unai emery men trying to level the game before the end of stoppage time.
Wolves sealed their second victory with a late goal from Rodrigo Gomes, scoring from the middle of the box, sealing the three points for Wolves.
Aston Villa’s loss marked their second away loss in their last five games, and makes them fumble their top-four hopes as Manchester United prepare to secure limbs up to fourth place in the league’s standings.
Rob Edwards’ side face Liverpool in their next meeting on Tuesday, while Aston Villa face Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
