Woman arrested over alleged shoplifting of goods worth N10.1 million in Katsina store

The police vommand in Katsina State has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for allegedly shoplifting goods worth ₦10.1 million at Green House, Katsina.
The state command’s spokesperson, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said the store’s chief security officer reported the suspect’s arrest on March 4, describing her allegedly as a notorious shoplifter operating within the metropolis.
Mr Abubakar said the stolen goods were valued at ₦10,102,000.
He stated, “The suspect was captured on CCTV at Green House, where she was seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop. Following analysis of the footage, she was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.”
He said a search at the suspect’s residence led to recovery of items valued at the stated amount.
Recovered items include 274 pairs of shoes, 37 veils, 67 sportswear sets and 54 children’s outfits.
Others are 123 caps, 315 sets of socks, 45 women’s wrappers, nine handbags, three cartons of spaghetti, 24 perfumes and five cartons of soap.
Additional items include a bag of assorted fashion jewellery and a sack containing various cooking seasonings and spices.
According to him, the items have been identified by the owners, while more victims are being traced.
Mr Abubakar said investigations showed the suspect had a history of shoplifting and theft, adding she confessed to the offences.
He confirmed the suspect had been charged to court for prosecution.
He advised shop owners to remain vigilant and adopt measures to secure their businesses against criminal activities.
