A woman, Bosede Soneye, poured hot water on her creditor when the latter sought to retrieve her money, the police told an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court then ordered the 48-year-old woman be remanded in a correctional centre.

Ms Soneye is facing charges of attempted murder preferred against her by the police.

The prosecution counsel Sodiq Adeniyi told the court that Ms Soneye committed the offence on October 2 in Iyin-Ekiti.

Mr Adeniyi said that Ms Soneye poured hot water on Ojo Bosede when she went to the suspect’s house to ask for the money she loaned the suspect.

He said that Ms Bosede sustained burns on her body.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti 2012.

The magistrate, Mojisola Salau, who did not take the plea of Ms Soneye, directed the police to transfer the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Ms Salau adjourned the matter until November 8 for the DPP’s advice.
