Women’s stabilising Nigerian families, communities: Elumelu

Ndudi Elumelu, former minority leader of the House of Representatives, says women’s nurturing and stabilising roles in the home remain fundamental to the growth, unity and progress of communities and nations.
Mr Elumelu, who represented the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency in the ninth assembly, disclosed this in his message to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day.
He also lauded women’s enduring love, sacrifice and care.
“Women are the backbone of the family and the moral pillars upon which society stands,’’ he said.
According to him, within the three arms of government, women have continued to demonstrate uncommon strength, resilience, competence and dedication to public service.
The former minority leader also acknowledged notable women whose leadership and humanitarian efforts continue to positively impact lives.
He particularly appreciated the wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu, for her strength of character and her initiatives aimed at advancing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
He also commended Delta’s first lady, Tobore Oborevwori, for her steadfast support and commitment to the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He noted that her contributions have continued to complement the governor’s developmental strides.
‘’I want to also pay glowing tribute to Dr Awele Elumelu, wife of the chairman of the Tony Elumelu Foundation and Group Chairman of United Bank for Africa, for her remarkable leadership in the health sector and her commitment to humanitarian service.
‘’Also worthy of this tribute is my wife, Mrs Ngozi Elumelu, who has been a strong pillar to me and whose encouragement, understanding and commitment to family values have remained a source of inspiration in my life and public service,’’ he said.
Mr Elumelu further expressed deep appreciation to the women of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta for their untiring support for President Bola Tinubu and the Delta governor.
He assured that he would continue to work closely with them towards advancing the development of the federal constituency, emphasising that women would always remain central to his vision as he continues to dedicate his life to service to humanity.
