Yahaya Bello nephew’s N3 billion fraud trial adjourned until May 30

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has fixed May 30 and 31 to continue the trial of Ali Bello, a nephew of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi.
Mr Bello and three others were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged N3 billion fraud.
When the matter in the suit marked ABJ/CR/573/2022 (FRN Vs. Ali Bello and three others was called on Tuesday, the prosecution, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, called their first witness, Nicholas Oyemomoni, from the American International School, Abuja.
Mr Oyemomoni, however, could not complete his testimony because the defence team, led by Abubakar Aliyu, objected to documents that the EFCC sought to tender in evidence through him.
Mr Aliyu prayed the court to allow him to raise the objection in his final written address while admitting the documents provisionally.
The prosecuting counsel objected to this on the ground that the documents could not be provisionally admitted.
After that, the judge, Obiora Egwuatu, adjourned the matter until May 30 and 31 to continue the trial.
The court had admitted Mr Bello and the three others to a bail of N500 million on February 20.
