A Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday remanded two herbalists and a third man at the Abolongo correctional facility for the murder of a woman identified as Mudijat.

The two herbalists, Ismail Wasiu, 29, and Shittu Mutairu, 35, and Kareem Rafiu, 26, also known as Omo Odo Agba, are being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Police prosecutor, Sunday Fatola, told the court that the offence was committed on October 24, at about 10:00 p.m. in Ato area, Ayekale, Saki, Oyo State.

“The two herbalists were approached by a “yahoo boy” that needed a human head, while Mutairu arranged and lured the victim, Mujidat ‘F’ to Saki from Lagos State.

“The defendants allegedly caused the death of Mujidat unlawfully by slaughtering her with a knife. The trio of Wasiu, Mutairu and Rafiu allegedly dismember her body and packed it in a sack before they were arrested,” said the prosecutor.

The Magistrate, Munirat Giwa-Babalola, who did not take the plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered their remand at Abolongo correctional facility, Oyo Town.

Mrs Giwa-Babalola said the defendants would be remanded, pending when their case file has been sent to the Oyo State Ministry of Justice for reassignment.

She adjourned the matter till January 12, 2022, for mention.
