The chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA, Eric Odo, says relocation of yam sellers in Ogbede market is not intended to witch-hunt anyone.

Mr Odo disclosed this on Wednesday while reacting to a protest embarked on by traders in the market.

The traders accused the council chairman of forcibly relocating them, which has resulted in the loss of money and goods in the process.

He stated that the relocation decision was not made unilaterally, but rather with the consent of the traders.

The council chairman denied the allegations by the traders, describing them as a malicious and calculated attempt to tarnish his image.

He explained that the relocation was aimed at developing the market to make it more conducive for commercial activities and revenue generation by the council.

Mr Odo said his administration was committed to developing markets in the area as well as making them more viable for investors.
