“The decision was made by the leadership of the party, at the top echelon; and the president has spoken, and that is final,” said Mr Isiaka.

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka popularly known as GNI, has revealed that the announcement of Senator Solomon Adeola (aka Yayi) as the party’s 2027 governorship candidate was predicated upon President Bola Tinubu’s choice.

Mr Isiaka confirmed the development to journalists on Monday night, hours after Governor Dapo Abiodun announced Mr Adeola as APC’s consensus candidate during a stakeholders’ meeting tagged ‘APC Strategic Caucus Meeting’, which was held in Abeokuta on Monday.

“The decision was made by the leadership of the party, at the top echelon; and the president has spoken, and that is final. So what is left for us now is for everyone to come together,” Mr Isiaka said in a video clip seen by Peoples Gazette.

Mr Isiaka and another APC chieftain in the state, Abiodun Akinlade, endorsed Mr Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

Mr Adeola was born in Lagos. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos, and attended the University of Lagos, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

He worked with the then-Federal Inland Revenue Service (now the Nigeria Revenue Service).

Mr Adeola later ventured into politics and was elected as a member (representing Lagos) of the House of Representatives, serving between 2011 and 2015. He was subsequently elected as a senator to represent the Lagos West senatorial district.

Subsequently, he was elected as a senator representing the Ogun West senatorial district.
