Yobbos attack BRT bus, rob passengers in broad daylight

Hoodlums have attacked a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle and robbed its passengers of their belongings in broad daylight around Alaba Suru, Lagos.
The hoodlums pelted the government-owned bus (BRT 325, identification number 240216) heading to Lagos Island from the Mile 2 terminal with stones, destroying its windows.
“This is the bus …216 that was attacked while we were coming from Mile 2, going to the Island. There were passengers going down to the Island. Actually, there was traffic. We saw it was normal traffic,” said a bus passenger in a video posted online on Thursday.
The passenger added, “All of a sudden, we saw boys, plenty of them, coming down from Orile to Alaba. The next thing, they stopped the buses ahead of us, then they faced the BRT bus, saying, ‘We will spoil the bus. They are the ones.’ Then they started throwing stones. Everybody was robbed inside the bus as well, and they collected our phones. I have to use someone else’s phone. Some of the staff were injured, the PoS vendors as well.”
Meanwhile, Jubril Gawat, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, disclosed that security operatives had been deployed to BRT routes across Lagos.
“Update: Lagos State Task Force led by CSP Tayo Akerele has deployed security officers on BRT routes across the state starting from the Alaba Suru area where a BRT was attacked by some suspected hoodlums recently,” said Mr Gawat.
