Yobe: Governor Buni praises Machina Cultural Festival

Governor Mai Mala Buni has praised the annual Machina Cultural Festival, describing it as vital to preserving Yobe’s cultural heritage.
Mr Buni spoke on Sunday while attending the finals of the Machina Cultural Festival, also known as MACUF, in Machina, Yobe.
He promised to revive all cultural festivals across the state to safeguard traditions and strengthen communal identity.
The governor commended the Machina Emirate for organising the event, which featured durbar displays, traditional wrestling and cultural dances.
“I commend you for preserving the rich culture of the people. The occasion perfectly blends the old with the new,” Mr Buni said.
Mr Buni cautioned youths against drug abuse and other social vices, urging them to embrace discipline and responsible living.
“Be upright and responsible, make your parents, the emirate, and the state proud, so we can raise responsible future leaders,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure to improve livelihoods and overall living standards across Yobe.
He inspected the completed Machina Sesame Seeds Processing Plant and the Machina Modern Market, which is about 90 per cent complete.
Mr Buni praised the contractor, Damuli International Company, for “a job well done” and adherence to timelines and contractual obligations.
He was accompanied by former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Musa Mustapha, Tijjani Zakariya and other government officials.
