Young Nigerian volleyballers get scholarships

The players got the favour following their exceptional displays at the Kontagora Volleyball Challenge Cup in Niger State.

Five young volleyballers in Niger State have been awarded scholarships by a board member of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF),  Major General Taritimiye Gagariga.

The players got the favour following their exceptional displays at the Kontagora Volleyball Challenge Cup in Niger State, said the benefactor.

Mr Gagariga said on Wednesday that he was delighted to give the young players scholarships in Niger state in order to support them in their education. 

He said his passion is to give young players a bright future to play the sports and to enjoy their education without facing any difficulty for funding in their academy.

The general emphasised that the relevance of education in one’s career can never be overemphasised as it touches every aspect of one’s life including learning the game of volleyball.

“I am urging all junior players to take their education with all seriousness as it will project their image.

“I want to reassure you all of my unrelenting support for your educational pursuits.

“The awards were organised and conducted to inculcate the desire for education to the participants while developing and improving their chosen career as Volleyball players,” he said.

Mr Gagariga who is also the Commander Corps of Artillery stated that both players who emerged best Libero will be sponsored throughout their secondary school to include their WAEC, NECO and JAMB.

The five young players who had the award are Abbas Ibrahim from Defense Spikers of Abuja. Destiny Ayuba from Vulcan Volleyball Club of Kotangora. Mary Anebi, Martha Anebi and Blessing Anebi from Scorpion Spikers Abuja.

Education Foundation Scholarship Awards began December 2020 in the Nigerian Army School of Artillery Kachia.
