Your re-election is renewed mandate for greater service, Tambuwal tells Adeleke
Senator Aminu Tambuwal of the African Democratic Congress representing Sokoto South in the Senate has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to see his re-election as renewed mandate for greater responsibility.
He urged Mr Adeleke to govern inclusively and serve citizens irrespective of political affiliation.
Mr Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, stated this in a congratulatory message Mr Adeleke in Sokoto on Sunday.
“As he prepares to continue the work of governance, I urge him to see this renewed mandate as an even greater responsibility to serve all the people of Osun, irrespective of political affiliation,” he said.
Mr Tambuwal described the governorship election that pave the way Mr Adeleke’s second term as a victory for democracy and the people of the state.
“This victory is not only a personal triumph for Adeleke; it is a victory for democracy and above all, a victory for the people of Osun, who have once again exercised their constitutional right to determine who leads them.
“The ballot remains the most powerful expression of the will of the people in a democratic setting. When citizens freely make their choice and that choice is respected, our democratic institutions are strengthened and public confidence in the electoral process is deepened,” he noted.
According to him, the outcome proved that when voters’ choices are respected, democratic institutions are strengthened and public confidence in elections deepens.
The former governor stressed that ballot remains one of the most powerful instruments available to citizens in a democracy.
Congratulating Mr Adeleke on earning people’s confidence for another term in office, Mr Tambuwal commended the people of Osun State for their participation and commitment to democratic process.
