Yuletide: Kogi police urge public cooperation for peaceful celebrations

The Kogi State Police Command on Sunday urged residents to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and safe yuletide.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Kankarofi gave the advice through the command spokesperson, CSP William Ovye-Aya, in Lokoja.
Mr Kankarofi urged residents to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and safe Christmas season and New Year celebrations.
He emphasised the importance of vigilance, advising citizens to report suspicious activities, avoid illegal gatherings, and practice responsible driving.
“Let’s collaborate; information from citizens helps us prevent crimes,” Mr Kankarofi stated. “We are stronger when communities and police unite; together, let’s make Kogi a crime-free Christmas and beyond.”
The CP urged citizens to report strangers and suspicious behaviour to authorities and to avoid cult activities.
He warned motorists to drive safely and obey road safety rules and also urged residents to activate neighbourhood watch programmes and work with community leaders.
Meanwhile, Mr Kankarofi commended the Kogi people for their resilience and lawfulness.
“With these simple precautions, we will safeguard our families, friends, markets, churches, and roads,” he stated.
The police urged citizens to report concerns to the nearest station, emphasising that community policing is key to preventing crime.
