The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo has deployed 1,800 personnel for special operations during the yuletide.

This is contained in a statement on Thursday by the state commandant, Samuel Dan, in Abuja.

Mr Dan explained that the operatives were drawn from Operations, Counter Terrorism, Disaster Management, Anti Vandal, and Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear Units of the command.

He explained that the operatives would provide security to public places, including markets, recreation centres, and places of worship.

Mr Dan pledged the command’s commitment to ensure adequate security during the period and cautioned youths in the state against violence and unwholesome acts.

The commandant said the youth and other citizens should embrace the long-established culture of brotherly love, unity, peace, and respect for constituted authority.
