Yuletide: NSCDC urges Enugu residents to be vigilant, security conscious

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday urged residents of Enugu to be vigilant and security conscious during the Yuletide.
The State Commandant, Aloysius Obiorah, made the call after a security strategic meeting in Enugu with all heads of department, area commanders, heads of units, tactical commanders, divisional officers and special squad leaders.
Mr Obiorah noted that the Corps and other security agencies were prepared to provide adequate protection during the festive period.
According to him, the NSCDC and other security agencies are in synergy to ensure that the citizens observe the Yuletide with a deep sense of security and patriotism.
“I want the residents of the state to be vigilant and security conscious at all times as evil men take advantage of people’s carefree attitude to perpetuate their mischievous adventures and get away with it.
“Vigilant people can stand up against aggression, put up some level of resistance before helping hands could come.
“I have directed all officers and men of the command to redouble their efforts in responding to emergencies as people’s confidence is renewed whenever they see the presence of security personnel around.
“As a command, we are soliciting the cooperation of residents of the state in providing credible information to security services and agents for prompt response,” he said.
The commandant congratulated the people of Enugu on the Christmas and New Year celebrations, adding that the mood called for celebration, despite the country’s challenges.
“Hard times do come and go but determined people will always find reasons to thank God for life,” he said.
