Yuletide: POWA distributes food items, cash to 200 widows, indigents in Kaduna

The chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Kaduna State chapter, has distributed food items and cash support to no fewer than 200 widows and indigents for the Christmas celebration.
The state police spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Mr Hassan said the chairperson of the chapter, Surayya Muhammad-Rabiu, distributed the food items and monetary incentives to the widows of fallen police officers, orphans and other less-privileged women as part of the activities marking the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He said the humanitarian gesture was aimed at easing hardship and spreading goodwill during the festive period.
He said 200 women, comprising widows of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and some less-privileged women, benefited from the gesture.
Mr Hassan noted that during the distribution, the chairperson emphasised the importance of compassion, support and solidarity, especially for the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
He said she reassured beneficiaries of the association’s continued commitment to welfare and support initiatives.
Mr Hassan stated, “The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the POWA chairperson and the command for the kind gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.”
