Zamfara to spend N64 million on VVF, SARC centres

The Zamfara government, in collaboration with the World Bank, will support the construction of the Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) Centre and the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in the General Hospital Gusau.
The Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) general manager, Umar Nakwada, disclosed this on Thursday in Gusau at a pre-project implementation training for Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) from the three communities (Bakin Total, Kantin Daji and Kofar Yangwanjo in Gusau LGAs).
Mr Nakwada noted that the training participants were CPMC members from the three communities.
“All the projects would be supported by Result Area 1 of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) in the state,” he added.
The general manager noted that the training aimed to educate the participants and improve their capacity to implement the projects in their communities effectively.
He said the projects will cost over N64 million and commence soon.
Mr Nakwada urged the participants to ensure transparency and accountability while implementing the projects.
“As CPMCs members and participants of this training, you are responsible to implement all the approved projects in your respective communities,” he added.
During the training, various papers were presented on the roles and responsibilities of the CPMC members, conflict resolution and environmental safeguards.
Other papers were bookkeeping, store management, report writing, monitoring, and evaluation.
