Zulum tasks information commissioners on transparency in information management

Governor Babagana Zulum has urged information commissioners to ensure credibility, transparency, and timely communication in the line of duty.
Mr Zulum made the call in his opening address at the Progressive Governors Forum Quarterly Strategy Meeting with the Commissioners on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
Mr Zulum, who was represented by his deputy, Usman Umaru-Kadafur, narrated the various achievements of the state government in the areas of roads, bridges, healthcare, education, and human capital development, among others.
“As commissioners of information, you are the vital architects of public narrative and guardians of a scarred societal trust. Your strategic communication shapes understanding, catalyzes citizens’ participation, mobilises resources, and counters the corrosive tide of misinformation.
“In this arena, credibility is your most valuable currency. I therefore urge you to utilise this session for the common playbook, one dedicated to transparent, timely, and responsible communication that unequivocally advances the course of governance and development across our great states,” Mr Zulum said.
The governor called on stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to deepen collaboration with the Borno government.
According to him, the success of a long-term plan hinges on alignment of programmes, predictable funding, steadfast technical support, and a shared, unyielding commitment to ensure that no community is left behind.
“Let me reiterate our profound appreciation to the leadership of our great party, the All Progressive Congress, for convening this crucial cohort of communicators. To each commissioner here, I commend your dedication to the service of our nation.
“To our esteemed guests, we thank you for gracing our state with your presence, witnessing our progress, and contributing your invaluable expertise,” Mr Zulum said.
