10th Assembly: APC governors endorse Abbas, Kalu

The chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, says the forum is behind speakership aspirant Tajudeen Abbas (APC-Kaduna).
In a statement by the Abbas Campaign Team on Monday, Mr Uzodimma also said the governors resolved to support Benjamin Kalu (APC-Abia) as deputy speaker aspirant.
According to the statement, the Imo governor said this when he hosted the Abbas-Kalu joint ticket campaign team, led by a group of lawmakers from different parties under the auspices of ‘Joint Task –10th Assembly Coalition’.
He said the party made the best choice of presiding officers for the lower chamber, and the least the governors could do was to ensure that the party’s preference and vision were actualised come June 13.
The governor commended coalition members drawn from eight political parties, saying they made the right decision to support the joint ticket.
“I congratulate you once more for the success you achieved in the last election and to commend you for coming together to form an alliance towards the speakership race,” said Mr Uzodimma. “You have taken a good decision to support these two gentlemen.”
The PGF chair urged aggrieved aspirants to close ranks with APC’s anointed candidates in the nation’s interest.
